What can I expect, if I visit Rochester Baptist Church?
Dear friends,
Thank you for visiting our website. The world is a very confusing place, but church doesn’t have to be. When you visit Rochester Baptist, you can expect to find a simple ministry that loves people, ignites hope, supports world-wide missions, and shares the Gospel. I hope you’ll step inside soon! You’ll come as a visitor and leave as a friend, you’ll sing old fashioned hymns and hear practical preaching for day to day living.
Whether living in Rochester, the surrounding cities or visiting Mayo Clinic, we look forward to meeting you. No matter where you are in your spiritual life, step inside to be refreshed in God’s Word and encouraged in the Lord’s service. At RBC, we are ordinary people with an extraordinary God.
The Lord has a plan for YOUR life. Let your story begin here!
Sincerely,
Pastor Don Noonan
Our Pastor and History
Don Noonan served the Lord many years at his home church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a volunteer wherever needed. He worked faithfully on his mom’s church bus route, was a full time soul-winner, and a Sunday school teacher. Don was burdened for the young people in his Sunday school class and decided they needed an opportunity beyond the ordinary to make it in the Christian life. This lead him to begin the Overcomer Afternoon Program. He designed this program so young people could spend the day at church away from their often turbulent homes. Along the way, he emphasized that God could use anyone regardless of their past!
Following his ordination, at Faith Baptist Church, he became the staff evangelist and traveled several years, across the United States. He preached revivals, participated in soul winning programs, and helped local pastors in many capacities. During this time, the Lord began working in his heart about starting a local church. After much prayer and counsel, he answered the Lord’s call to begin a work in southeast Minnesota. Saying good bye to the ministry he was raised in, along with family and friends, didn’t come easy, but the Lord gave peace and assurance. Don and his wife, Lisa, along with their children, moved to Minnesota and began Rochester Baptist Church in 1999. The church folks began meeting in homes, and later Gage Elementary school and finally to the property on 11th Avenue NE. In addition, Pastor Noonan and the members of RBC have faithfully ministered for 25 years, to hundreds of patients from around the globe receiving medical treatments at the Mayo Clinic Hospital.
